Privacy and cookie notice
Last updated: 12 September 2026
Data controller
The data controller is Margaret Barbi.
Requests concerning this privacy notice or the exercise of rights under Regulation (EU) 2016/679 may be sent via the contact form.
Data processed
Mere browsing of the site, without use of the contact form, does not entail the collection of a name, e-mail address or other identifying details.
Where the user utilises the contact form, the data transmitted (name or company, e-mail address, subject, message and, if attached, the file) will be processed solely in order to reply to the request and, where a quote is requested, to prepare it.
Cookies and the visit counter
The site currently uses a single cookie: a visit counter.
Cookie name: linguosofia_visite. First-party cookie, set by this site. Duration: 12 months. Content: a visit count and the date of the last count. Purpose: to record how often the site is visited from the browser in use. The cookie does not contain a name, e-mail address or other identifiers. It is not used for profiling, advertising or tracking on other sites. No third-party cookies, marketing cookies or external analytics tools are installed.
Legal basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and ePrivacy Regulation). The cookie is set only after “Accept” is selected on the banner. If consent is refused, the site remains available and the cookie is not set.
The choice (acceptance or refusal) is stored locally in the browser, not by means of a further cookie, so that the banner is not shown on every page and so that the limit of a single cookie is observed.
The choice may be changed at any time by deleting this site’s cookies and data in the browser settings.
Contact form
Messages are transmitted, via the site’s server, to linguosofia1@gmail.com. The data are used solely to handle the request. Legal basis: steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract and, as regards contact details, the legitimate interest in providing a reply (Article 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR).
The data remain in the mailbox for as long as needed to handle the request and any legal duties, and are then deleted.
Recipients and transfers
Data are not disclosed to third parties for commercial purposes. They may be seen only by collaborators strictly necessary (for instance a native-speaker translator involved in a requested quote), who are bound to confidentiality.
The site is hosted on infrastructure that may lie outside the European Economic Area; in that case the safeguards required by the GDPR (such as standard contractual clauses) apply.
Rights of the data subject
The data subject has the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and, where applicable, data portability, as well as the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing already carried out. A complaint may also be lodged with the Data Protection Authority or with the competent supervisory authority.
Minors
The site is not intended for the collection of minors’ data. Language courses for young people are arranged at the request of the person exercising parental responsibility.
Changes
This privacy notice may be updated. The date at the top of the page indicates the latest revision. In the event of material changes, in particular as regards the use of cookies, new consent will be requested.
